9. Killarney National Park Education Centre - Lakes and Ecology

KILLARNEY NATIONAL PARK EDUCATION CENTER - We work with people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities. We provide outreach to childcare facilities and Primary schools. We also provide outreach for Leaving Certificate pupils undertaking geography and biology fieldwork, as well as Third Level students. In addition, Teacher training sessions, guided walks and Junior Ranger Camps are provided. Courses and activities are 'tailored' to suit each group and its participants.

Killarney National Park Education Centre is the longest established Education Centre of any of Ireland’s National Parks. On average, we cater for 11,000 to 12,000 student sessions annually.

LIFE OF THE LAKES – Learn about the flora and fauna that are dependent on the lakes for their survival. Examine aquatic insects close up, using a magnifying glass or microscope. Learn about the unique characteristics they possess to enable them to survive beneath the waters. Examine a collection of aquatic plants which are ready for you to identify.
